History

Dumfries Table Tennis Club is an active & friendly club situated in the centre of Dumfries that has many young and old members playing table tennis almost every week of the year. Dumfries Table Tennis Club has been going since the 1950’s, but in 1988 the club was able to build its own premises, which is one of the very few purpose-built table tennis facilities in Scotland.

With such a well equipped facility it is no surprise that the Club has nurtured some of Scotland’s finest players over the years with many competing at the top level nationally and internationally. The club also runs a competitive local league for players of all ages and abilities as well as holding its annual club championships, which is always a busy but fun weekend.

Coaching is essential to the success of any sport and the club is lucky to have several experienced coaches who run sessions each week through the season and can help the aspiring player to reach their potential. As the club is privately owned, the Club relies on membership and the support of its members to help meet its running costs. Players and their families are encouraged to become members or non-playing members and actively participate in the few fundraising activities that are held over the year, or even to become a committee member and help the Club to continue to offer this facility to the people of Dumfries and Galloway.

Currently DTTC have big ambitions to grow the presence of the Club within the community and to ensure the Club has a future through increasing membership. This will be achieved by a dedicated Development Officer/Coach to work alongside members of the Club as well as local council Active Schools Coordinators and Health Board staff.
