Dumfries Table Tennis Club has its own purpose built facility in the centre of the town on Shakespeare Street in front of the Brooms Road car park. The Club comprises a purpose built sports hall of approximately 18 x15 metres with excellent lighting and a newly refurbished sprung floor. The facility also boasts male and female changing/shower facilities and a canteen/meeting room upstairs that can comfortably hold 20 people. The venue has been an important centre for table tennis in our region and Scotland for over 25 years and continues to do so.
The Club is used by its members on a regular basis to play league matches, training and coaching sessions as well as open nights, however we are keen to see the hall used better and would like to hear from other local sports or community groups and even schools that might be interested in using the facility, particularly if they might be able to fit around our non-core usage. At present there is ample scope for additional use during the day from morning until 5pm almost every day of the week with the exception of Saturday morning. Sunday is entirely free and we may be able to find scope to accommodate other groups on Thursday evenings when the hall is typically less busy. Our canteen room upstairs is also available for meetings and has been used by groups including the local authority fro example as a teaching venue.
Of course we are keen to hear from groups who would be interested in using the hall to play table tennis (perhaps a daytime class for retirees?) but we are also keen to hear from other sports or interest groups and are open to discussion if there is a need for storage of equipment, marking lines on the floor etc. We are able to offer very competitive rates for use of the facility so please get in touch or drop by the hall (check opening times) if you want to see the premises.
